Nintendo DS - Portugal: New Web Forum Launched

New discussion web forum for Nintendo DS users in Portugal.

(PRWEB) January 2, 2006 -- A new discussion web forum for Nintendo DS users in Portugal has been launched. Users from other Portuguese-speaking countries (including Brazil) are also welcome.

The forum is located at http://nds-pt.dehumanizer.com.

This is the first Nintendo DS forum in Portugal, and, as of January 1, 2006, the only one available.

Other than enabling discussions and knowledge sharing between Nintendo DS users, including game reviews and tips, a goal of the forum is to fight the common (and wrong) idea that "Nintendo is for kids". The DS is, in the opinion of the forum's creator, the only gaming console where innovation is still happening in a tired and stagnating industry.

"Nintendo has been at the forefront of innovation in the gaming industry since the early 1980s", says Pedro Timoteo, the forum's creator. "However, in the age of the Playstation, Nintendo's consoles and games have been increasingly thought of as "kiddy" by the majority of the public. The situation is even worse in Europe than in the rest of the world, and especially in Portugal, where at the time of the forum's creation no single Portuguese web site dedicated to the Nintendo DS, Nintendo's latest console, existed. This new forum intends to fill that void."

The new forum, in the Portuguese language, includes sections about the Nintendo DS console itself, current games, future games, online gaming, and several "off-topic" sections concerning other gaming consoles such as the Nintendo GameCube, the Sony Playstation 2 and Microsoft's Xbox. Registration is free and open to all.

Pedro Timoteo is a 31-year-old Portuguese systems administrator, webmaster, blogger and gamer. He lives in Tercena, Portugal.
