Thin Cobblestone Tiles...Architectural Supply, Inc.’s Solution to Ugly Concrete

(PRWEB) January 2, 2006 -- Architectural Supply, Inc. (ASI) is introducing a newly discovered type of sedentary rock, Stronite. Stronite is unusually strong and dense, thus offering a new, affordable solution to the longstanding problem of beautifying old driveways, patios, pool sides, walkways, and any areas that could benefit from a cobblestone makeover.

Stronite is formed after being subjected to intense heat and pressure deep inside the earth for millions of years. This pressure turns the stone into an incredibly hard and dense material so firmly cemented together that its mass, according to geological analysis, is homogeneous. Tests on Stronite have shown an unusually high resistance to crushing and breaking. But, the unbeatable strength of Stronite comes at a cost—namely, pliability.

Due to its amazing density and strength, working Stronite into different shapes and forms is only possible with the use of a diamond encrusted blade. Stronite’s limited pliability does not exclude it from practical uses. ASI’s 5-year test application of Stronite concluded that Stronite is a perfect material for driveways, walkways, and road bedding.

“This material is so hard that it solves the age old problem of beautifying undesirable existing concrete and pebble stone driveways, patios, pools, and walkway areas without having to tear out and remove perfectly good concrete,” according to Bruno Leonardt of Architectural Supply, Inc. Concrete driveways must be at least four inches thick in order to withstand years of automobiles driving over the surface. Other concrete surfaces around the house can be thinner than driveways, but may still be two inches thick or more.

Before Stronite, in order to install new cobblestone, pavestone or pattern concrete over old concrete, you would need to remove the existing concrete bedding, which is expensive and messy. Due to the thickness of the material, separation of the two concrete layers occurs if the old concrete wasn’t totally eradicated, posing a serious and costly long term problem. In addition, simply placing new cobblestone over the old concrete would create a doubly thick surface, which could easily be higher than doorsteps, the lawn, or the lip of the pool.

Stronite, which is cut in 4”x4” squares and is only 3/4” thick, solves the problem of tearing out old concrete. It can quickly and easily be set over existing concrete, like floor tile, to achieve a cobblestone effect. Its strength and density ensure that cobblestone areas will stay looking new for years to come.

ASI now offers the gorgeous European cobblestone effect you’ve been looking for--at a price you can afford. The beautification of your driveway, walkway, pool side, or patio area is now possible for a mere $5.85 per square foot—a fraction of the cost of concrete enhancement techniques. Stronite is offered in natural earth-tone colors such as tan, off white, gray, black, green, and brown. No matter what a client’s taste, this amazing material will fulfill his or her landscaping dream.

ASI is one of the nation’s largest importers of fine hand carved marble and limestone products. Its inventory offers fireplaces, columns, vanities, gazebos, and many more quality products.
