InsureMe Puts Benevolence on the Forefront
Insurance shopping service donates to local and international communities.
(PRWEB) January 4, 2006 -- InsureMe, the consumer-agent link to finding insurance online, is demonstrating the importance of helping local and world communities, not only during the holidays, but all-year round.
In efforts to create lasting change in the community, the privately held company, which donates 10% of its profits to charitable causes, recently completed its third annual United Way campaign, And, while the company has historically matched employee contributions dollar-for-dollar, in 2005 the InsureMe company unveiled an unprecedented double match -- contributing $2 for every $1 of employee contributions, up to $10,000 per employee.
“People want to make a difference in their community,” explained InsureMe CEO, Tim McTavish.
"When an employer double-matches their contribution, as we did this year, a little goes a long way and individuals really can improve the lives of others."
In 2005, The InsureMe company donated over $98,000 to the United Way and pledged an additional $87,000 to other charities and benevolent causes.
And, while the company values monetary donations, it also acknowledges the importance of making a personal connection. In April 2005, the InsureMe company worked with Trips with a Mission, sending nine employees to complete the construction of a village’s only orphanage.
In addition to donating over $27,000 to the cause, the company also paid for half of the employees’ trip expense, vaccines and supplies as well as supplementing a week of paid time off for each volunteer.
“Many want to provide a personal touch even though they may not be in a position to make a financial contribution, but can offer the gift of their time. When an employer provides additional paid time off for such volunteering, it really motivates those who want a more hands-on experience,” added McTavish.
In the fall of 2006, InsureMe will support employees heading to Juarez, Mexico to participate in the construction of new homes for local families.
