TPC Foundation, Inc. Names Myia Jones 2006 "Emerging Living History Maker"

Vacaville, CA (PRWEB) January 4, 2006 -- "... and a little child shall lead them..." Myia Jones is a 14-year-old high school freshman who is a wise leader, mature well beyond her years. As well as founder and president of MYIA, Inc. (Multicultural Youth-In-Action), a nonprofit community organization, she is a public speaker; national sports awardee, and champion of youth causes. In acknowledgment of her numerous accomplishments and contributions, and the exalted goals her company strives to reach, TPC Foundation, Inc. selected Myia to be named “2006 Emerging Living History Maker.” Myia and the other exceptional individuals who were selected 2006 Living History Makers will be featured in Turning Point Magazine, and honored at the 13th annual Living History Makers Awards Reception hosted by TPC Foundation, Inc. and Turning Point Magazine Thursday, February 23, 2006.

The Living History Makers program recognizes California's most dedicated individuals. They are nominated by individuals and organizations, and honored at the Living History Makers Awards Reception. This affair is attended by corporate and business executives, community leaders, elected officials, opinion leaders and decision makers that directly influence California's African American community. The program committee chooses an honoree in each of following categories: Advocacy, Arts & Entertainment, Education, Science & Technology, and new to this year's reception – Emerging Living History Maker, honoring individuals up to the age of 21 who have shown an unusual commitment to their community or have demonstrated extraordinary entrepreneurial spirit.
