Conversis Launches Lingoport’s Globalyzer Internationalization Software

Conversis, Ltd., a service and solutions-based localization and translation company, has announced the launch of Globalyzer to help companies internationalize software to meet the demands of world market customers.

(PRWEB) January 8, 2006 -- Conversis, Ltd., a service and solutions-based localization and translation company, now has Globalyzer to help companies internationalize software to meet the demands of world market customers. Targeted for the UK and European markets, Globalyzer expands Conversis’ ability to provide internationalization support services for clients with technology or software products.

Internationalizing source code is the process of making software applications workable in any language. Now with Globalyzer, the process of analyzing, fixing and maintaining source code for global markets is a fast, reliable and repeatable process. Using proprietary technology developed and distributed by Lingoport, Inc., a leading innovator for internationalization software and services, based in Colorado, USA, Globalyzer enables development teams to customise and simplify the process of detecting and correcting source code to help prepare it for localization.

"Creating software and Web applications that are adapted to the needs of worldwide users requires more than high-quality translation and localization services," said Gary Muddyman, CEO and managing director of Conversis. "In fact, through the internationalization process, which prepares and adapts source code at the developmental level, software developers can minimize costs often associated with repeat localization efforts, and decrease time-to-market delays of their localized product."

Globalyzer enables software developers and engineers to rapidly assess source code for internationalization-specific challenges and problematic coding patterns. Globalyzer finds the internationalization issues, guides engineers through them within the source code and provides help and functionality to fix the problems. Using default and extensible rule settings for supported programming languages, Conversis Globalyzer detects many internationalization issues including: embedded strings, image references, locale-unsafe methods/functions and general programming patterns. Globalyzer supports the internationalization of most programming languages, including HTML, Java, C#, C/C++ and Visual Basic.

Internationalization is already a well-established process in the U.S. market, where it is a more common practice with the larger software developers. However, internationalization is a different matter for the European market, according to Muddyman. Traditionally, European companies develop the software in English right away, so the step to localize into other Western languages is viewed as clear-cut, given the proximity of linguistic resources.

Since the U.S. has had bigger challenges and develops a lot more software, its market for internationalization products and services has subsequently developed. Now, he continued, "as Europeans access more markets (including those whose languages are bi-directional or use double byte characters), the need for truly internationalised products grows stronger worldwide."

Muddyman adds, "Systems must accommodate users’ preferences for language, culturally appropriate interfaces, numerical formats, currencies and even variations in distribution and legal conditions. With the new worldwide opportunities available today, software applications that are awkward or impossible to adapt to multiple languages and cultural requirements face a very difficult competitive position. Properly internationalizing software - the process of making software truly world-market adaptable - is becoming a necessity in the global economy."

Conversis Globalyzer enables companies to quickly find and fix internationalization limitations in their code that prevent efficient translation and localization. It allows companies to take control of software internationalization, with minimal effort, and maintain internationalization quality control. In addition, companies can offer better products – faster – to their international customers while lowering maintenance and support costs, ensuring timely go-to-market launches and increasing their return on investment.
