Savings Bank of Walpole Appoints Gregg Tewksbury COO

Savings Bank of Walpole today announced that Gregg R. Tewksbury, currently executive vice president, has assumed the additional role of chief operating officer. With this new role, he will have overall responsibility for all operations of the bank.

WALPOLE, N.H. – January 12, 2006 – Savings Bank of Walpole today announced that Gregg R. Tewksbury, currently executive vice president, has assumed the additional role of chief operating officer. With this new role, he will have overall responsibility for all operations of the bank. He reports directly to Don Tisdale, president and chief executive officer, who is slated to retire in 2007. The announcement comes as the bank continues implementing its management succession plan.

Tewksbury, a Cheshire County resident for over 15 years, joined the Savings Bank of Walpole in June of 2005. In just six months his leadership talents and passion for the Monadnock community have become evident.

Tewksbury spearheaded the bank’s response to the Columbus Day weekend floods that devastated parts of Cheshire County. Taking advantage of the bank’s local governance, a bank board committee met on the day following Columbus Day to review and approve an emergency response program drafted by Tewksbury on the previous day. The program was implemented, enabling the Savings Bank of Walpole to immediately offer credit programs and loan payment moratoriums for flood victims on the first day of business following the flooding. “Gregg has proven his value to the bank and our communities in many ways,” commented Tisdale. “He connects with our staff and customers, and he is a staunch advocate of our proactive community role. In addition, he has the bank management skills to lead us into the future. I look forward to working with Gregg in his new capacity as we continue to implement our succession plans.”

Prior to joining the Savings Bank of Walpole, Tewksbury was chief financial officer of Merriam-Graves Corporation in Charlestown, N.H. He was also the chief financial officer for CFX Corporation (formerly the Cheshire County Savings Bank, now part of TD Banknorth Inc. of Portland, Maine). He is a trustee of the Savings Bank of Walpole and has been a bank corporator since 2001.

Tewksbury is a certified public accountant (CPA) and holds a B.S. degree from the Whittemore School of Business and Economics at the University of New Hampshire. He serves on the board of Monadnock Family Services and is a member of the counsel of advisors for Cheshire Medical Center. He resides in Chesterfield, N.H. with his wife and three sons.
