ACPA’s entertainment pod cast becomes the digital acting coach for Atlanta’s performers.
ATLANTA (PRWEB) January 11, 2006 -- Atlanta Coalition of Performing Arts (ACPA), an organization for actors and entertainers in the Atlanta area along with http://www.altantaperforms.com has launched weekly audio broadcasts, or Podcasts for performers acting in the area.
Podcast is a term that can be misleading since listening does not require an iPod or any portable music player. Any computer or digital audio player with audio-playing software can play podcasts. If an actor has a computer, they can tune in and hear the latest news and advice from leading industry professionals.
Each podcast features Stage Stories with directors, performers, and other people from greater Atlanta's performing arts scene. Some tell of their favorite stories from life in the “biz” — from funny moments at rehearsal, backstage or onstage, to intimate stories of how the art touched people’s lives, to tales of living broke and hungry with nothing but the will to follow a dream.
What makes podcasting distinct from other types of online media delivery is its subscription model. Think of it as an online syndicated radio show. Listeners may subscribe to feeds using software such as iTunes (available free for PCs or MACs), which checks for and downloads new content automatically. If you want to listen to the Atlanta Performs podcast without subscribing, any audio software installed on your computer will allow you to do that from a ‘listen’ link provided on the podcast main page.
In addition, each week’s podcast will cast an audio spotlight on one of the Feature Articles from Atlanta ShowGuide magazine, a publication in partnership with ACPA available at AtlanTIX booths, area performance venues and other fine establishments.
Weekly, each podcast will finish with “60 Shows in 60 Seconds”, an exceptionally quick rundown of what’s currently playing live on stage, across greater Atlanta. To view the podcast actors can visit http://atlantaperforms.com. and click on podcast. Viewing podcasts and on-line seminars like this enable an actor to gain knowledge from real world experiences on the comfort of their own computer. Along with on-line head shot postings like http://www.auditions.com and http://www.castingcall.com, an actor with a computer can receive twice the amount of exposure and knowledge as before the digital age, making nation wide actor visibility actually possible.
