Tackling Cold and Flu Season at the RCA Dome: Marion County Health Department Launches Innovative Handwashing Campaign
InStadium and the Marion County Health Department launched a professional sports stadium-based campaign to educate sports fans and others about reducing the spread of the common cold and flu through regular handwashing. The combined attendance during more than eight NFL and over a dozen non-NFL events at the RCA Dome will allow the MCHD to net over 1,500,000 targeted impressions annually.
Chicago, IL (PRWEB) January 7, 2006 -- InStadium and the Marion County Health Department (MCHD) joined forces as the MCHD launched its first professional sports stadium-based campaign to educate sports fans and others about reducing the spread of the common cold and flu through regular handwashing. Beginning in September 2005, and continuing through the beginning of the 2006 National Football League season, MCHD is leveraging InStadium’s unique restroom advertising program to reach hundreds of thousands of fans at Indianapolis’ RCA Dome. InStadium’s program provides MCHD a unique and captive touchpoint that reaches out and informs Colts’ fans and other RCA Dome attendees, at a very appropriate time, about prevention of the cold and flu through regular handwashing. The combined attendance during more than eight NFL and over a dozen non-NFL events at the RCA Dome will allow the MCHD to net over 1,500,000 targeted impressions annually.
“InStadium’s media fit perfectly with our hand washing message, and it was an outstanding opportunity for us to have a high-visibility presence at the RCA Dome,” said John Althardt, Public Relations Coordinator for the MCHD. “Reaching out to both local fans and visitors about the importance of handwashing while they are in the restrooms – it just makes perfect sense, and is amazing exposure for the campaign and the MCHD.”
“The campaign is designed to reinforce strong handwashing habits with all the patrons, staff and food service employees at the RCA Dome, and thus cut down on the spread of the common cold and flu through casual contact,” continues Althardt. “InStadium presented us with an extremely cost-effective way to reach a larger and more diverse audience than we could in any other high-traffic venue. We are extremely pleased with the potential for exposure during other events, particularly the 2006 NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship. We continue to get lots of positive feedback on the program, and we’re thankful we have the chance to partner with InStadium on this campaign – and we are already looking forward to renewing our relationship for the 2006 NFL season.”
