The University of Spiritual Healing & Sufism Hosts Open House

USHS' Friends & Family Days is a free open house that offers insight into new degree programs, and Sufi spiritual healing for all participants.

The University of Spiritual Healing & Sufism (USHS, formerly the Jaffe Institute) expects hundreds of prospective students and students' family members as they visit the Winter Session of the Healing School to learn more about the University, its programs, and services during the annual Friends & Family Days open house.

The Friends & Family Days program gives visitors the opportunity to experience first-hand the process of spiritual healing through the Sufi way while interacting with students and faculty. This free day-and-a-half program of spiritual development and personal growth is held at the beautiful Lake Arrowhead Resort in Lake Arrowhead, California, on February 2-4, 2006.

The program officially begins on Friday morning at 8 a.m. and concludes at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Visitors are welcome to join the faculty and staff on Thursday, February 2 for dinner beginning at 6:30 p.m., and stay to enjoy an evening of fellowship and entertainment.

Friends & Family Days includes many activities for the visitors to get to know the school as well as the faculty and students. Visitors will experience and participate in activities that offer opportunities for spiritual exploration and growth, including introductory classes, healings by students, and interaction with the faculty and students. Informational sessions will outline the various certificates and the new advanced degrees offered by the USHS, as well as explain financial aid options and other student services.

"We look forward to this event every year because it allows prospective students the opportunity to really get to know us before they enroll, which is so important when choosing the right educational organization," says Kim Phipps, USHS marketing director. "Just this short glimpse into the richness of our curriculum and the spiritual approach to our fields of study is enough to illuminate the depth and beauty of our educational offerings, but the opportunity to actually experience spiritual healing can be a truly transformative experience for prospective students as well as their families."

Participants from previous years often report experiencing profound spiritual transformation during the event, according to Phipps, even though their motivations for attending have been as varied as the visitors themselves.

"One visitor said that she came to our Friends & Family Days event because of the changes she saw in her sister after the sister had attended a session of Healing School. Not only did she want to see for herself how it happened, she wanted the same changes for herself," says Phipps.

While their motivations for attending may vary, visitors to the Friends & Family Days event often report similar experiences, including strong and positive feelings of welcome, acceptance, and spiritual peace among the students and faculty, says Phipps.

"There is an old Sufi saying that when the student is ready, the teacher appears," says Phipps. "If someone attends our Friends & Family event, it is very likely that they are searching for a way to add a spiritual dimension to their work, whether as a healer or business professional, or perhaps they entering a more spiritual phase in life, and simply wish to infuse their being with a deeper and more inclusive sense of spirituality. If that is what they are looking for, they will find it at Friends & Family."

The USHS classes and programs are flexible enough to accommodate the many and varied educational objectives of their diverse student body, according to Phipps, and the Friends & Family Days program is the perfect opportunity for prospective students to see how the USHS fits into their futures.

Reservations are required for the tuition-free Friends & Family program. Early registration is recommended as this is a limited enrollment program. Registrations can be made on-line at http://www.jaffeinstitute.org or by calling 800-238-3060. Participants are responsible for their own lodging, food, and travel costs.
