Donations from Cleaning Industry Help Breathe Healthy Indoor Air into Texas Renovation.

A Washington, Texas family of five devoted to rescuing neglected and abandoned animals are off to a healthy indoor start in their home renovated by “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” in December, thanks to donations of cleaning and housekeeping products garnered by The Housekeeping Channel® http://www.housekeepingchannel.com. The volunteer-powered transformation of the DeAeth family ranch home and new animal shelter will be presented in a 2006 episode of the ABC series.

“Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” pooled its resources to support the reconstruction of the home that was literally falling apart as Dale and Melanie DeAeth and their three children were spending their spare time nurturing more than 100 horses and dogs, including many left homeless in the wake of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. Their home’s foundation had shifted, walls were cracked throughout, and termites had invaded.

Once the renovation was complete, “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” asked the Housekeeping Channel to provide help to keep the DeAeth’s home environment clean and sanitary going forward. “Our partners have risen to the occasion of giving the DeAeth family a clean start in their new home,” said Allen P. Rathey, founder of the Web site. “Keeping that new home clean is just as important as getting that renovation. Helping people live in cleaner, healthier homes is The Housekeeping Channel’s goal,” he said.

The DeAeths, founders of the True Blue Animal Rescue organization, received a package of cleaning and housekeeping products for both their home and animal shelter from the following companies:

  • AMI/Stain-X
  • AquaStar, Inc.
  • FilterStream Company
  • Maid Brigade of NW Houston
  • ProTeam, Inc.
  • Restoring Order®
  • WorldWare Enterprises Ltd

"Maintaining the DeAeths’ rebuilt house and animal shelter will be much more efficient, thanks to all the vendors that helped us including The Housekeeping Channel®," said Diane Korman, Coordinating Producer, "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition." "We’re thrilled that the DeAeths’ new home life will include tools and services to maintain a clean and healthy environment."
