Port Washington, NY (PRWEB) January 10, 2006 -- Port Sailing School, an educational facility certified by the American Sailing Association (ASA) located here, announces that it has joined LuHi Summer Programs of Brookville, New York, which offers a variety of sports, recreation, and educational programs on its Brookville campus and provides bus transportation to campers since 1962.
This enables more children and teens from Nassau and surrounding Long Island counties to attend Port Sailing’s short-term sailing camps offered in two-week sessions, June through August, 2006.
Port Sailing School director Chris Nihill says, “Prior to the LuHi arrangement we were turning away working parents who lived too far to drive their child each day to our program. The arrangement with LuHi offers them an affordable and time saving means to get their children to the sailing school each day.”
The sailing program is open to students between ages 11-17. Students learn to sail while earning their New York State Safe Boating certificate, required by law to operate any power boat (including jet skis) for ages 11-18. Sailing class will take place on Manhasset Bay weekdays from 10 am-3:30 pm.
Port Sailing School is located at Brewer Capri Marina on Manhasset Bay, and has a fleet of both daysailer and cruising sailboats ranging from 19- to 30-ft. It provides sailing instruction for all ages and levels of proficiency. Courses include: Basic Keelboat, Basic Cruising, Bareboat Chartering, Coastal Navigation, and the New York State Safe Boating course.
Parents whose children need transportation to and from summer sailing camp can contact LuHi Summer Programs at 516-626-1100. To contact the sailing school, call 516-767-SAIL (7245) or visit http://www.portsailing.com. New York City students can take the Long Island Railroad to Port Washington. The school is a short ride from the LIRR station.
