Nine Is So Fine -- City Canyons Records Presents Its Ninth Showcase of Independent Music

(PRWEB) January 12, 2006 -- City Canyons Records in conjunction with Black Dog Promotions and the New York City Guitar School presents songwriter Sara Wendt performing materials from her newly released, and eagerly awaited, EP, HERE'S US at the Ninth City Canyons Showcase at New York's Red Lion on Tuesday, January 17, beginning at 7:30 p.m. Sara Wendt has been a creative force in Manhattan's independent music scene for some years and has been recognized by her contemporaries as an outstandinging songsmith, each song a polished gem of elegeant music and evocative lyrics.
This monthly Showcase by City Canyons--the exciting independent label based in downtown Manhattan--has become one of New York's most popular and prestigious ongoing showcases for independent music featuring the top indie artists in New York and regionally.
The Ninth Showcase promises to be finest yet. In addition to Sara Wendt, Matty Charles takes a solo turn offering his unique and sometimes stunningly lovely vision of urban swing while The Velmas, City Canyons most recently signed artists, present a melodic brand of alternative rock that recalls both today's most contemporary and sophisticated alternative rock groups and such legends of yesteryear as the Beatles. Also on the bill are one of the most talented songwriting teams around, Jen Elliott and Anne Husick, appearing as their alter egos, Pippy and Hippy.
