Upgraded software gives mobile users a complete note-taking experience with voice notes, today screen add-on, customizable toolbars and more.

PhatWare Corporation, a leading provider of software products and professional services for mobile and desktop computers, announces PhatPad 3.0 to provide mobile professionals with more creative options for taking notes and to make notes easily accessible anywhere. PhatPad is an award-winning notes organizer for Microsoft Windows-based devices, Tablet and Desktop PCs that allows users to draw pictures, write text and create animation on a virtual scratch pad.

The main new features of PhatPad 3.0 include the ability to add voice notes, a Today Screen add-on and a two customizable toolbars. Voice notes allow the consumer to record and replay a spoken note and add it to a PhatPad document. Because of PhatPad’s extensive creative tools, version 3.0 offers two popup toolbars that can be edited to include the user’s most-utilized tools.

“PhatPad 3.0 offers avid note-takers more user options than ever before,” said Stan Miasnikov, president of PhatWare. “With PhatPad, Tablet and Windows Mobile users can create a diagram, label the parts and add a voice note to explain what the diagram means. It’s a great tool for mobile professionals.”

The new version of PhatPad has a Today Screen add-on that allows Windows Mobile users to quickly access the most recently created or modified PhatPad documents and voice notes directly from the Windows Mobile Today Screen. If a PhatPad document contains a voice note, it can be played directly from the Today Screen without opening the PhatPad document.

PhatPad 3.0 has several additional features that improve usability, such as the new file manager with note preview that allows the user to preview all pages in the PhatPad document before opening them and change the page order during the document preview. A new search dialog box gives users easy access to found notes. While supporting older Windows Mobile based devices, PhatPad 3.0 takes advantage of the new features found in Windows Mobile 5.0-based devices such as built-in camera support, soft-key menus and others.

Version 3.0 provides better integration with the most recent versions of CalliGrapher, PhatWare’s handwriting recognition software for Windows Mobile, and PenOffice, PhatWare’s handwriting recognition for Tablet and Desktop PCs. PhatPad 3.0 also offers improved integration with the built-in Tablet PC handwriting recognition engine. Additional enhancements include improved support for landscape mode and devices with square screen displays, and customizable background, pen, and grid colors for notes.

“Windows Mobile-based devices help users stay on top of their career and personal life by enabling better access, control and use of their information while away from their PC,” said Chris Hill Group Product Manager, Microsoft Corporation. “PhatWare’s PhatPad 3.0 helps users create notes with text, drawings, animation and audio enabling them to be more productive wherever their active lives take them.”

The application works on Pocket PC 2003 or later devices based on Windows Mobile 4.2 or later and Tablet and Desktop PCs with Windows 2000 or later.
