PEZ MP3 Player Logo Designed by Cleveland, OH Area Illustrator/Designer George Coghill

New MP3 music player integrated into a PEZ® Candy Dispenser features logo design by Cleveland, Ohio area illustrator and designer George Coghill.

Kent, Ohio (PRWEB) January 14, 2006 -- A brand new, officially-licensed MP3 player fashioned from an actual PEZ candy dispenser hits the market in time for the holiday season. Cleveland area illustrator & designer George Coghill was chosen to design the logo and the blister card packaging.

Coghill was chosen for the project after the PEZ MP3 entrepreneur behind the project, Patrick Misterovich, viewed Coghill's online portfolio. Reassured by Coghill's illustration style and influences, including Odd Rod/"Big Daddy" Roth style illustrations and a subscription to MAD Magazine as a kid, Misterovich knew Coghill was the artist he wanted for the project.

Weaving influences from Star Wars action figure packaging, old Mattel sports handheld games and other inspirations from childhood toys, Coghill & Misterovich settled on a logo that is both modern and nostalgic while avoiding kitsch.

The PEZ MP3 player started as a personal project for Misterovich, bouncing ideas off fellow DIY types on the web. It soon snowballed to requesting an official license from PEZ, and after signing contracts—and bank loans—the rest fell into place. Coghill was brought on board in the summer of 2005 as the manufacturing details were being wrapped up. The PEZ MP3 player is slated to ship the end of November 2005.

Many popular gadget news & blog sites such as make magazine's blog [makezine.com/blog], BoingBoing.net, Engadget.com and others have been following the development of the project, giving the PEZ MP3 project great exposure to it's intended audience & customer base.

"Working on this project was a true pleasure. Patrick Misterovich, the genius behind the product, was great to work with and we were able to incorporate some fun elements and themes from our similar childhood toy memories. As a toy fanatic and a gadget freak, this was a dream project for me." says Coghill.

George Coghill is a freelance illustrator & designer who also works as an illustrator/cartoonist & designer with local cartoon character development company Fineline Properties [www.finelineproperties.com] as well as a production designer with the Cleveland area arts & entertainment weekly Cleveland Free Times [http://www.freetimes.com].

Further details and images of the PEZ MP3 logo, as well as an extensive portfolio of his illustration work can be found on Coghill's website at http://www.georgecoghill.com.
