Meeting the need of today’s construction industry with increasing standardization, pre-qualification requirements and a growing shortage of able professionals, ASPE (a 501c-3 non for profit organization) announces the development of a new estimating proficiency exam, the EP2. (PRWEB) January 14, 2006 -- Meeting the need of today’s construction industry with increasing standardization, pre-qualification requirements and a growing shortage of able professionals, ASPE (a 501c-3 non for profit organization) announces the development of a new estimating proficiency exam, the EP2.

The exam was developed by the ASPE Certification Board and administered by the Society’s Standards Board.

Why take this exam?

  • The EP2 exam will provide those who pass it, the opportunity to show their employers or prospective employers they hold certain estimating abilities.
  • Feedback from many construction employers indicates, that company owners will likely require applicants take this test to verify their abilities prior to hiring them as estimators. Please see: http://www.aspenational.com/EP2AugustAd2.pdf for more.
  • Those who pass the EP2 exam will receive a certificate from ASPE National offices.

Who should take this exam?

  • Any professional construction estimators with a minimum of two years experience can take the EP2 in order to verify their basic and advanced estimating skills.

What is the exam like?

  • EP2 is a 100 question exam of general estimating knowledge - not CSI specific.
  • The exam will take the average candidate about 2-3 hours to complete.
  • EP2 is a pass/fail exam, 70% correct is the minimum to pass.

Where/When can I take the exam?

  • The exam is available on computer at hundreds of locations and proctored by ASPE certified estimators. In early 2006 the EP2 exam will be available "on demand," via a computerized method at approximately 180 locations in the USA and Canada.
  • The exam will also be available via the “paper & pencil” method at specific ASPE events.

If you wish to get on the contact list for further information - send an email to: INFO@ASPEnational.org

**Note: the exam is not a part of the actual Society certification process, information on the ASPE Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) program is available at: www.aspenational.org

ESTIMATING PROFICIENCY I (EP-I)
EP-I (still in completion process) will be an exam, which tests entry level commercial and residential professional construction estimators to verify for employers that they have certain skills. Employers may ask for the test in order to confirm basic abilities in their junior estimators.

Some universities and other estimating training facilities are looking at using the exam as a benchmark for completion of their courses.

More information on these exams will be available soon.

If you wish to get on the contact list for further information - send an email to ASPE.
