Music Community Website Desert Island Discs.net Has Official Launch
A new online music community website, Desert Island Discs.net, is introduced.
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) January 13, 2006 -- The official launch of the new website, Desert Island Discs.net, (www.desertislanddiscs.net) was announced today. The website, an online music community, is designed to allow anyone who visits the site the opportunity to post and discuss their favorite musical selections based on the popular notion of listing your musical choices should you ever become stranded on a deserted island.
On the website people will have the opportunity to search for music they read about on the site, as well as purchase CD’s and downloads through the website’s retail partners. Additional site features include ecards, links to music downloads and product giveaways for newsletter subscribers.
One of the inspirations for the site was the radio program “Morning Becomes Eclectic” on a local public radio station. According to the founders of the site, “We’ve been listening to “Morning Becomes Eclectic” for years, and we wanted to create a website where people could share a variety of musical tastes and possibly discover something new that they might enjoy.”
In the future, Desert Island Discs.net intends to align itself with radio stations across the country that play an eclectic musical format. Additionally, the site looks forward to accepting podcasts of Desert Island Discs from users for download from its site. The site also expects to feature downloads from musicians that would like to make their music available to Desert Island Discs.net users.
