Research for In The Breath of God began when Edward was in college. Though based in the real East Texas area surrounding Gilmer, Gladewater and Longview, there’s a lot of my past in the scenery. Occasionally, some of my time in Oklahoma City sneaks in. Too, I periodically take a real building and fictionalize it. I have to. Alex needs a world that is all his own. One where he is truly king. This world belongs to Alex, Lisa and family,” the author says.
A 1992 graduate of Sabine High School, Edward Hancock II resides in Gilmer, Texas, with Kelly and their son, a dog, and three cats. Edward is surrounded by family, living near both parents, his surviving grandparents, several uncles, aunts and cousins. He is very close to his family and tries to create that same bond within the Mendez family.
