Edward Hancock II, a Gilmer, TX, Author, Announces Release of 'In The Breath of God,' Scheduled for March 2006

In The Breath of God is the second book in “The Mendez Series.” The founding book of the series, Splintered Souls, was released in 2000. In the long-awaited sequel, readers re-join Alex and Lisa Mendez as they confront an evil as old as time itself. Is it possible their four-year-old daughter is the key that unlocks a mystery dating back to the Biblical story of Noah and The Great Flood?

Gilmer, TX (PRWEB) January 14, 2006 -- Edward Hancock II, a Gilmer, TX, author, announces the release of In The Breath of God, scheduled for release March, 2006.

Christian Family Reading and Resources declares Edward “really knows how to write women,” and states “Readers will be thrilled…” with this most recent adventure in the lives of the Mendez family. After a horrible accident leaves him partially paralyzed, it takes the enigmatic power of Heaven to bring Lieutenant Alex Mendez back from the dead, unlocking a secret as old as time that may have been hidden inside his four-year-old daughter.

Research for In The Breath of God began when Edward was in college. Splintered Souls, the result of that initial research, was self-published soon afterwards and enjoyed marked success, largely due to the wide-ranging appeal of Alex Mendez and his circle of loved ones including – then – Lisa Warner, police officer, partner and friend.

As the novel ends, Lisa and Alex have finished one of the most harrowing adventures of their lives and have embarked upon yet another great adventure. The journey into matrimony and, as we peek four years hence, parenthood. In The Breath of God picks up where Splintered Souls leaves off. It is a sequel in every sense of the word, challenging readers to question everything they learned in the first installment of the series. As in real life, things are not what they first seem. The setting of the novel is a fictionalized version of the real-life East Texas area in which Edward grew up.

Readers find themselves traveling through the expanse of the East Texas landscape – including cities such as Gilmer, Gladewater and Longview -- and coming face to face with a variety of inhabitants therein. Small-town feeling abounds as readers come to understand the diversity of East Texas culture and way of life.

“There’s a lot of me in these characters. There is a lot of life experience. Though based in the real East Texas area surrounding Gilmer, Gladewater and Longview, there’s a lot of my past in the scenery. Occasionally, some of my time in Oklahoma City sneaks in. Too, I periodically take a real building and fictionalize it. I have to. Alex needs a world that is all his own. One where he is truly king. This world belongs to Alex, Lisa and family,” the author says.

A 1992 graduate of Sabine High School, Edward Hancock II resides in Gilmer, Texas, with Kelly and their son, a dog, and three cats. Edward is surrounded by family, living near both parents, his surviving grandparents, several uncles, aunts and cousins. He is very close to his family and tries to create that same bond within the Mendez family.
