Open House: Sample Health & Well-Being Casses; The New York Open Center Hosts Free Event January 21

Join us for the launch of our Winter Season. Sample programs in: Yoga, Aromatherapy, Reiki, Career Enrichment, Meditation & worldwide cultural traditions. Discount available for on-site registration for workshops and weekly series. Browse our bookstore, chat with faculty, and enjoy discounted mini-wellness sessions all day.

New York, NY (PRWEB) January 13, 2006 -- The New York Open Center, the city’s leading center for holistic education and world culture, announces a day of free classes and refreshments on Saturday, January 21, 2006, as a prelude to its Winter/Spring programs. Discount available for on-site registration for workshops and weekly series.

The Open House – at 83 Spring Street - runs from Noon until 6:00 p.m. Anyone who attends can sample some of the scheduled programs, meet with highly-respected professionals who will be conducting them, browse the bookstore, and talk to Open Center faculty members and programmers who will be guiding people through the day.

In addition, the New York Open Center will offer the opportunity to try out a different style of bodywork. 15-minute mini-wellness sessions in Reflexology, Chakra Balancing, Polarity, and CranioSacral Balancing will be provided for $10.00. Scheduling will be done on-site, on a first come, first served basis.

Fundamentals of Aromatherapy - Linda Tilton BFA, MSC, is the director of the New York Open Center’s Wellness Department. She is has a private practice in NYC and is the founder of Women Inspiring Women, which offers workshops in well-being, aromatherapy and healing.

Kundalini Yoga - Ravi Hari Kaur Khalsa, MSW, is a certified kundalini yoga instructor with over nineteen years of teaching experience. In addition to teaching group and private classes, Ravi Hari also works as a psychotherapist in private practice in Manhattan.

Practical Intuition - Laura Day is a world-renowned intuitive and New York Times best-selling author of Practical Intuition and The Circle: How the Power of a Single Wish Can Change Your Life.

Introduction to Reiki - Margaret Ann Case, is a Reiki Master, Polarity Practitioner, interfaith minister and spiritual counselor, mentor, and coach. She is the Founder & Director of Reiki Arts Continuum and has been a practitioner and teacher for over 12 years.

Healing With Whole Foods & Chinese Herbs - Drew DiVittorio, Dipl Ch, is a national board certified Chinese Herbologist. He received his diploma in Oriental Medicine from the School of Classical Chinese Herbology in New York City. He has a private practice in New York and Connecticut.

Discovering Your Soul’s Work - Allie Roth, MA, a career consultant with over 20 years of experience in Fortune 500 companies, counsels individuals and groups on career transitions and professional development by integrating traditional counseling with Easter and Western spiritual traditions.

The Natural Singer - Claude Stein is a gold-record vocal producer who has coached artists on Sony, Warner Brothers, Island, and Elektra Records, as well as singers from the Julliard School, the New York Actors Institute and the Rubin Academy of Music in Jerusalem.

The Alexander Technique - Hope Martin is a certified instructor of the Alexander Technique. She has been teaching private and group classes in NYC since 1987. Hope is also a trained meditation instructor and teacher in the Shambhala Buddhist tradition.

Latin Dance Made Easy - Carmen Robles-Herrera, MS Ed, MSW, LCSW, and creator of the Dashimo™ Technique, is a dance teacher whose background includes training in Cuban folk dance in Havana and a certification as a Kripalu DansKinetics instructor – a technique combining dance and yoga. Carmen is also a long-time practicing psychotherapist.

Mindfulness Meditation - Samuel Kirschner has been a body/mind counselor and meditation teacher for over 20 years. He is the author of Creating a Healing Circle, and creator of the CD, The Present.

Introduction to Reflexology - Wendy Coad, MFA, Bed, LMT, has been an educator for 23 years. She is a certified reflexologist and director of the American Reflexology Certification Board. Coad is also a certified feng shui consultant, aromatherapist, and owner of a private practice in Manhattan.

Sufi Teachings of Self Transformation - Andrew Vidich, PhD, educator and international speaker on religion and spirituality, holds a doctorate in Comparative Religion. He is a founding member of the Interfaith Council of New York and the author of several books including Love is a Secret: The Mystic Quest for Divine Love.

The New York Open Center has been providing lectures, performances, training, tours and more to the metropolitan community since 1984. The Center’s programs – more than 600 annually - span the topics of holistic health, psychology and personal growth, sustainable living, spiritual inquiry, ecology and environment, and social and cultural issues.
