ITS Cosmetology School in Plano is Big on Beauty

The state-of-the-art Cosmetology School has opened and is accepting applications for full-time and part-time day and evening Cosmetology and Nail Technology students. Applications are also being accepted for the esthetician program that is scheduled to begin March 15, 2006.

The state-of-the-art Cosmetology School has opened and is accepting applications for full-time and part-time day and evening Cosmetology and Nail Technology students. Applications are also being accepted for the esthetician program that is scheduled to begin March 15, 2006.
The contemporary, 13,500 square foot school offers a posh setting with travertine marble floors, elegant columns, as well as faux painting to mirror the elegant atmosphere of the upscale salons in the region and spa chairs for Nail Spa Therapy treatments. The training includes the latest innovations in Cosmetology, Esthetics and Nail Technology. Classroom for theory and practical training, a clinic laboratory, a well-equipped student’s lounge, as well as a library of texts, publications, curricula, audio-visual equipment and aids, and industry-related journals are part of the salon/spa atmosphere. Focused training to reflect the growth in spa-like environments will be offered in Cosmetology, Nail technology, as well as a student Instructor course for those who want to learn how teach.
New for ITS will be an expanded Nail Spa Therapy program under the director of Michael Lybarger, the company’s national nail instructor. The comprehensive program includes a month of focused training to guide students in the arts of nail scrubs, aromatherapy, hot stone therapy, hot towel treatments, and more. Also included in the 600 program will be training in Nail Art, Sculptured Nails, Tips and various Nail Procedures. Graduates of the program will have a wider range of opportunities for employment in the more lucrative areas of the field such as upscale salons, resorts and spas.
When the Esthetician program begins March 15, 2006, students will receive 750 hours of classroom and practical applications learning an array of spa facials and peels such as oxygen trio peels microdermabrasion, pumpkin pees, anti aging facials, glycolic exfoliation, seaweed with lactic acid and many more. The Esthetician program also covers spa body treatments, spa packages and hair removal, as well as specialized training in daytime makeup application, bridal, fantasy makeup, photo shoots and corrective makeup.
“We have built a school that will allow students to learn in a state of the art spa/salon atmosphere,” said Jessica Wolman, an owner of the school. “We are offering educational programs that will not only train the students to learn the basic skills, but more importantly master those techniques so that they are salon ready and have the education that will offer opportunities for successful career path. Our Esthetics program will mirror our affiliate school in Scottsdale, Arizona, National Aesthetics Institute, an icon in the industry.”
Phase I and II of the 1500 Cosmetology curriculum includes 16 weeks of training prior to servicing customers. The state requirement is only five weeks. During Phase II, the second half of the 16-week program will focus on advanced technical skills to prepare students for the salon service industry including flat iron, advanced hair artistry, advanced hair sculpting, color corrections, foil weaving and the latest trends in hair extensions.
The Student Instructor course consists of a 750-hour program that trans the student in the basic and advanced teaching skills, writing lesson plans, performing lectures and demonstrations and working with diverse student’s needs.
Graduates of all the above program are eligible to apply for a license through the State of Texas Licensing Board of Examinations.
ITS Academy of Beauty is located in the Plano Market Square just off of Highway 75 and the Spring Creek exit. ITS Academy of Beauty is currently open Tuesday through Friday from 8:30 to 3 p.m. for the morning session and Monday through Friday from 5:30 to 9:30 for the night program.
