Students to Learn How to Produce Personalized School Yearbooks at Free Seminar

Digital photography and printing techniques are revolutionizing the traditional high school yearbook printing process. Now, a national printing company--home-grown in upstate NY--will play host to "Yearbook University." Yearbook coordinators and students are invited to attend, where they will learn to master the latest photography, layout, design and printing techniques used in professional looking yearbook production.

Rochester, NY (PRWEB) January 15, 2006 -- Just in time for Yearbook season, a local print company is inviting upstate NY teachers and students to attend free classes where they will learn to master the latest photography, layout, design and printing techniques.

On February 1st, 2006, students from around upstate NY and northwest PA will converge on downtown Rochester’s School of the Arts for the first annual Yearbook University seminar. Open to all teachers, staff and students enrolled in a K-12 institution, this free presentation will feature professional photography and print instructors who will lecture on digital camera basics, principals of design and layout, and how to personalize the school’s yearbook using digital printing. The ninety-minute seminar will begin shortly after the school day at 3:30pm.

Expressly-Yours Yearbooks, a division of locally-owned and operated Express Press, has seen a steady increase in demand for their high school yearbook product produced on the most state-of-the-art digital offset presses. While the digital process can speed delivery and provide cover-to-cover full color printing, high school yearbook coordinators often fail to take advantage of the boom in digital photography. Expressly-Yours Yearbooks hopes to change that. “We’ve found easy-to-learn modern design tools like Photoshop and digital cameras, can unleash student’s creativity,” said owner David Clar. “However, with the ease of use comes many mistakes that could be avoided with a little training.” Yearbook University will feature a presentation from noted local professional photography instructor Matthew Guarnera, who will walk the students through basic and advanced digital photography techniques.

The first annual Yearbook University is expected to draw from around the region. The free seminar is geared towards any staff or student currently involved in their school’s yearbook production. No prior experience is necessary, registration is required to attend.
