Attorney Bailey Moseley Has Announced His Candidacy for the Texas Court of Appeals in the March 7th Republican Primary
Republican attorney Bailey Moseley has announced that he is a candidate for Justice of the Texas 6th Court of Appeals in the March 7th primary. Moseley, who is a conservative, has a long history of being active in the State Bar of Texas and the Northeast Texas Bar Association and Harrison County Bar Association.
Marshall, Texas (PRWEB) January 15, 2006 -- Republican attorney Bailey Moseley has announced that he is a candidate for Justice of the Texas 6th Court of Appeals in the March 7th primary.
Moseley, who is a conservative, has a long history of being active in the State Bar of Texas and the Northeast Texas Bar Association and Harrison County Bar Association. Moseley educates other lawyers, frequently serves as an instructor for continuing legal education seminars throughout the state. He has practiced law in the 6th District for 35 years. He is known for his legal expertise and experience. He currently serves as a director of the Texas College of Real Estate Attorneys, a member of the governing Council of the Probate, and Trust Law Section of the Texas State Bar, and as the vice chairman of the legislative action committee of the REPTL section of the Texas Bar Association.
Moseley, 61, is a life-long resident of Harrison County and has been married to Kay Saxon Moseley for 39 years. They have two children, Chris, 38, and Meredith who is 35.
A former assistant District Attorney in Harrison County, Moseley has been active in youth and community activities. He is a leader in his church and was a founder of the Marshall Soccer Association. The citizens of the City of Marshall elected him a member of the Charter Revision Commission and he has served Marshall as a Trustee of the Public Library Board, as well as a Planning and Zoning Commissioner. He was named by Harrison County to serve on the Board of the Cypress Valley Navigation District.
In order to reduce the costs of legal services, Moseley has worked closely with members of the Texas Legislature to simplify documentation processes and to make legal documents more understandable for non-lawyers. He has been called upon by state lawmaking committees to consult on language to be used in new laws.
Moseley has prepared and argued numerous cases before the three-member court of appeals for this district. The Court of Appeals is headquartered in Texarkana and hears both criminal and civil cases appealed from trial courts from its 19-county area of Northeast Texas; it also is often assigned cases appealed from Dallas and Houston trial courts.
Moseley says he looks forward to serving on the court, which has a history of solid judicial decision making, respected throughout the state. “I will make fair decisions based solely on the law and the cases submitted to the court. The judge’s bench is a place for interpreting the law – not for making new law. My practice for the last 35 years has been broad enough in scope to give me experience in representing both plaintiffs and defendants.”
