Described as "Peter Max colliding with Kandinsky," artwork created by Colorado illustrator-artist Jan C.J. Jones titled, “Whimsical Doodles’ Whimsical Worlds” display was included in the Colorado Springs Independent’s “7 Days To Live” feature, January 12-18 edition of places to be, things to see. W. Monument, CO (PRWEB) January 16, 2006 -- Whimsical Doodle titles denote the quizzical aire of whimsy created, for example, "The Rastafarian Flute-Harpist Arrived Late," and yes, he's there, but what "he" is, is not exactly certain. Journalist, Kara Luger of the Colorado Springs Independent, describes the art as quirky and whimsical or “quimsy.” She writes, “...with titles like ‘The Rastafarian Flute-Harpist Arrived Late,’ [Whimsical Doodles] practically beg viewers to create their own quimsical storylines.” Luger was obviously inspired to create a couple of new words.
Featured in The Independent’s “7 Days To Live” feature of places to be and things to see, the W. Doodle, "A Beautiful Mind is Better than a Pretty Face" depicts a lesson on the vainness of a narcissist's vanity. When asked her vision for W. Doodles, Jones said she would like to see W. Doodles transformed into entire designer collections for fashion, the home and office. “I’d like to wrap my work around people to inspire their imaginations, and bring a little bit of levity to their already stressed out lives. It’s difficult to be creative under stress,” and as a divorced, mother of two teenagers, Jones should know stress.
Described as "Peter Max colliding with Kandinsky," W. Doodle's Whimsical Worlds transport the viewer into mostly lighthearted abstract scenes filled with geometry, color, wonderfully composed spaces occupied (in some cases) by unfamiliar, otherworldly creatures. Each drawing represents a small segment of a much greater story to be completed or continued by the viewer. Intending to incite the imagination and inspire creativity, observers are invited to complete the story.
Youngsters and oldsters alike chuckle as they ponder the story behind each Whimsical Doodle. The Whimsical Doodle’s Whimsical Worlds collection was juried and selected last September by the Pikes Peak Library District’s art selection committee to be displayed both in the Monument Branch Library on display at the Monument Branch Library (Monument, CO at 1706 Lake Woodmoor Drive) through January, and in the new Briargate Branch Library in March. Whimsical Doodle’s Whimsical Worlds was featured in the 2005 Boulder Fringe Art Festival (Boulder, CO) as well as the 2005 Renegade Artists Festival in Estes Park, CO. and is presented, represented and licensed by Forest Rose Productions, LLC, Monument, CO. www.ForestRosePrds.com
