BALTIMORE (PRWEB) January 17, 2006
John C. Goss Jr. got an unexpected Christmas present this year: his book, Hanbo: The Aiki Way, was suddenly the Number 1 title on Amazon.com's bestseller lists for Aikido martial arts books.
The book, newly revised and expanded in a second edition, was outselling all the other Aikido books in the world on Christmas Day.
Goss, director of the Aiki Martial Arts Institute in Bel Air, Maryland is the only certified and currently teaching Korindo Aikido teacher in the United States. He holds a 7th degree black belt in Korindo Aikido, and is the Official U.S. Representative of Mikata-ha (Mikata family) Korindo Aikido.
Goss has conducted training on subduing suspects without excessive force for both the Baltimore County Police SWAT and the Maryland State Police Tactical units. His is the only hanbo book currently available on Amazon.
A hanbo is a three-foot-long staff that serves as a versatile weapon for either one-hand or two-handed martial arts. Goss's techniques work both with the traditional wooden hanbo and with any other object of approximately the same size and thickness.
Neither the author nor the publisher did any special promotion to achieve the #1 slot; the book got there on its own merits.
Goss's publisher, Sheila Ruth of Imaginator Press, attributed the book's success to "a growing interest in a martial art discipline that combines real self-defense skills, mental concentration, and an approach that's still fresh and relatively undiscovered in the U.S."
Journalists: to interview Goss, get a headshot, book cover, action photos of hanbo practice, DVD of prior television appearances, and/or a screen shot showing the book at #1 among Aikido books, please contact Sheila Ruth, publisher, 888-203-4068, firstname.lastname@example.org
