Scooop.net (http://www.scooop.net), a media site based on citizen journalism and voting by its members, released the results of its weekly hot topic poll regarding what form of advertising is most effective. Those who were surveyed told Scooop.net that television advertising was still the most effective means of promotion available today. The survey contained every type of major advertising available to business owners today.

The two worst performing methods of advertising were Internet pop-up ads and Internet banner ads, with the former being the least effective by survey.

Scooop.net conducted its “Hot Topic” study to discover what people really thought about the advertising field in general, and how their companies used advertising to build their businesses.

Surprisingly most of those surveyed described themselves as small business owners yet television advertising came in as the top form of promotion. For years most people assumed that television advertising was the province of medium and large sized companies.

When asked about what types of promotion they presently use in order to get new business, those surveyed reported that email marketing was popular. Email marketing came in as the fourth most effective type advertising despite all the efforts by various regulatory bodies to restrict this form of advertising.

Scooop.net was launched to give the public at large a voice in what news they feel is important, and to provide a platform for Americans to clearly voice their opinions about the important issues of the day. Each week, a new topic will be selected from the news headlines, identified by Scooop.net members.

This week’s hot topic will revolve around the subject of the mounting trade deficit and whether or not Americans are willing to do anything about it through their purchasing habits. Do consumers really try to “buy American products?”

Scooop.net was created and launched by In Touch Media Group, which is an online marketing and PR firm specializing in generating Website visitors and customers for its business clients using a combination of effective systems, including search engine advertising, publicity and other marketing services.
