Following the success of last year’s “Independent Party”, Hollywood interior designer and retailer Barclay Butera -- whose clients include Sharon Stone, Chris O’Donnell, and Renee Zellwegger -- is proud to host, with partner Hollywood Life magazine, an event honoring must-see dramas during the Sundance Film Festival. The event will be held Sunday, January 22nd, starting at 10:00pm, and will take place at the Barclay Butera VIP Lounge in the Gateway Center, across from the designer’s Park City showroom. The VIP Lounge is part of the Queer Lounge, which invited Butera to design their entire space this year so as to create a “home away from home”, a place that feels more permanent and provides comfortable elegance, whether working or playing. The party will honor the following dramas: Allegro, Factotum, Flannel Pajamas, Off the Black, Open Window, The Proposition, Special and Steel City.

The party will honor the following dramas: Allegro, Factotum, Flannel Pajamas, Off the Black, Open Window, The Proposition, Special and Steel City. Currently confirmed to attend include cast members and creators of the honored dramas; Josh Hartnett (Lucky Number Sleven); Aaron Eckhart (Thank You for Smoking); Shia La Beouf, Trudie Styler and Sting (A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints).

“I am a huge fan of films and I believe that dramas, dealing with tough and personal subjects, as these five films strive to do, is important to our culture and make us more aware and empathetic to those around us who are struggling with a variety of issues different from ourselves,” says Butera. “Hollywood Life is a wonderful partner in that they truly love Hollywood, film and honoring those who create.”

“There is an irresistible energy in fusion of talent. Barclay Butera designs are very dramatic, his lounge is totally cinematic and his interest in film is deep. The creative voltage of our joint tribute to these outstanding movies will be very high – truly invigorating,” says Anne Volokh, Editorial Director of Hollywood Life Magazine.

As to being invited by the Queer Lounge to create a true ‘home away from home,’ Butera says, “They understand that people are here for several days and are working alot. I understood that they wanted to provide attendees with a lush, comfortable place to feel cozy, a place where people want to gather; and of course incorporate the chic elegance of how Hollywood lives -- one of my favorite themes.” This year, Butera designed two special spaces in his red, white and black “Hollywood chic” style that will be seen at the Queer Lounge: first, a family room -- with Jenny McCarthy as the inspiration -- for House Beautiful’s Celebrity Showhouse in Los Angeles; and also the largest section of Hollywood Life’s Young Hollywood Home at L.A.’s Pacific Design Center. Both became THE gathering place for most visitors, as Butera designs rooms and furniture with exactly the goal of bringing people together to converse and relax.

The Queer Lounge will feature sofas, chairs, ottomans and accessories from the nationally-distributed Barclay Butera Home line. Many of the pieces will be auctioned off at the end of the festival, with the proceeds benefiting the Queer Lounge. Says Queer Lounge Founder and Executive Director Ellen Huang, “Barclay Butera is an inspiring artist with a tremendous heart. We are thrilled to be partnering with Barclay because his filmic aesthetic for the Lounge will only bring more awareness to our vision – building bridges between the gay and mainstream communities through the common language of film.”

Additionally, Butera’s new and redecorated Airstream International CCD Bambi 19’ is being used as the Monkeys In Pants GreenRoom Celebrity Lounge servicing such top companies as WireImage, the Los Angeles Times, the Utah Film Commission, Hewlett-Packard, L’Oreal and Laser Pacific Post. It will be used for photo shoots, print and broadcast interviews, and as gifting lounge.
