Boston, MA (PRWEB) January 17, 2006 -- One of the largest holiday celebrations worldwide, Chinese New Year lasts for 15 days and signifies the reunion and celebration of family. Chinese calendar year 4704, the "Year of the Dog", begins on Sunday, January 29th, 2006. Steeped in tradition, Chinese New Year is historically a time for loved ones to come together and feast on dishes with cultural significance. To honor this tradition Peking Tom's -- an award-winning Chinese restaurant developed by the Eat Drink Laugh Restaurant Group -- will offer a lucky 8-choice family-style menu and Year of the Dog cocktails from Saturday, January 28th through Saturday, February 4th.
To kick of the special Year of the Dog celebration, on Saturday, January 28th (New Year's Eve) at 8pm Peking Tom's will also feature a traditional Chinese Lion Head Dance, where a serpentine-like Chinese Lion will dance, jump and wind its way through the dining room and bar to the beat of pounding drums, bright colors and lively sounds in this authentic Chinese dance for luck and auspiciously usher in the new year.
The Chinese New Year menu includes a family-style, three course meal for $20.06 per person, and Year of the Dog cocktails such as 'Chow Chow Chug', 'Dragon's Fire Punch Bowl', and 'Kumquat Mojito's'. The luckiest number in Chinese culture is eight (as it sounds similar to the word for 'lucky' in Chinese) therefore the special group-menu features eight choices per course (appetizer, entrée, rice/noodle/veggie side dishes), picked from Peking Tom's most popular dishes, and includes dessert.
The menu will be posted shortly at pekingtom.com

"Where upscale versions of such classics as sticky spare ribs and crab rangoon are entirely finger-lickable in their own right (at) the hippest HUH in the Hub" (Boston Globe), Peking Tom's was recently awarded Best Group Dining 2004 by Boston Magazine, Best After Work Cocktails 2004 & Best New Concept 2003 by The Improper Bostonian.
