Encryption gives an organization the power to stay ahead of criminals, competitors and regulators, transforming the ball-and-chain of data security into a driving strategic advantage.

What do Peoples Bank, Atlantis Hotel & Casino in the Bahamas and Marriott have in common? Each organization was recently the subject of negative publicity concerning data security breaches that affected nearly 345,000 consumers, increasing concerns about identity theft and potentially harming each company’s reputation.

During the last three weeks, Peoples Bank warned of a security breach affecting approximately 90,000 customers, Atlantis announced a breach of about 55,000 guest records and Marriott announced a breach affecting more than 200,000 customers.

“When thieves steal information from corporations, they rob enterprises of valuable assets: business intelligence, brand equity and self-determination over IT investments,” says Alan Fudge, CEO of GuardianEdge Technologies, a market leader in reducing the cost and complexity of network and data security for large enterprises. “These assets have a quantifiable monetary value and are vital for sustaining a competitive advantage.”

Encryption is the fundamental enabling technology for protecting data and guarding brand equity, according to Fudge. “Encryption gives an organization the power to stay ahead of criminals, competitors and regulators, transforming the ball-and-chain of data security into a driving strategic advantage.”

Historically, encryption has been used as a point solution, installed on specific systems and for a limited number of individuals. Today, however, encryption is required at every level of the enterprise. The stumbling block for most companies has been to find a scalable, manageable technology that encrypts data everywhere: in email and on hard drives, removable storage devices, and PDAs.

The Encryption Anywhere™ data protection platform from GuardianEdge eliminates this barrier.

The Encryption Anywhere platform provides a flexible, scalable approach to encrypting and managing access to data on enterprise PCs, PDAs, smart phones and removable storage devices, and it employs a single management tool that plugs directly into Microsoft® Active Directory.

“Encryption Anywhere allows an enterprise to use encryption pervasively without the need to invest in additional management tools, network infrastructure or professional certifications. The results are strong protection of business data, enhanced value of the organization’s reputation, and greater control over the enterprise’s IT investment,” says Fudge.
