RecyclingSPORTS.com, launched in the Fall of 2005, provides online users the opportunity to buy and sell new and used sporting goods from the comfort of their own home. Created by two New York City triathletes, recyclingSPORTS.com allows users to buy and sell products such as bicycles, kayaks, skis, backpacks and a multitude of other recreational items.

RecyclingSPORTS.com, launched in the Fall of 2005, provides the online community a welcome alternative to the cornucopia of auction sites. Created by two New York City triathletes, recyclingSPORTS.com is geared specifically to sporting goods with a mission and message demonstrated by its name.

With a background in environmental engineering and a passion for preservation of the environment, Colleen Birnstiel (Co-Founder, recyclingSPORTS.com) found that bringing the idea of recycling to the sport she loves is particularly exciting. “A lot of my teammates are always swapping sports gear and looking for upgrades of equipment. RecyclingSPORTS.com offers users the opportunity to reuse recreational gear, thus maximizing a product’s useful life.”

The site, which features fixed pricing and longer listing periods than competitors, has positioned itself to capture users in the ever-growing field of e-commerce. After utilizing online sites to buy and sell sporting goods, Kenneth Monahan (Co-Founder, recyclingSPORTS.com) became disillusioned with increasing fees and the added aggravation of auction pricing. “We offer users the ability to list items for sale at a fixed price using a very user-friendly environment,” stated Mr. Monahan. “If they sell the item it’s also a fixed fee; there is no tiered payment structure. On our site what you see is what you get, as a buyer or seller.”

Since its launch, the word has rapidly spread about http://www.recyclingsports.com. As such, the site continues to grow in popularity and with their current promotion of free listings - they are well on their way of bringing recycling sports to everyone.
