New Orleans Businessman Launches ImNotChocolate.com in Response to Mayor Ray Nagin's Controversial Comments
Site inundated with consumers looking to purchase “Ray Nagin and The Chocolate Factory” collectible t-shirts.
New Orleans, LA (PRWEB) January 18, 2006 -- In response to controversial comments made by Mayor C. Ray Nagin during his recent Martin Luther King Jr. Day speech, local New Orleans businessman Dolph Federico has launched a new website called ImNotChocolate.com. The site and URL name are a direct commentary on Mayor Nagin’s assertions that a newly built New Orleans should be a chocolate city.
“Mayor Nagin’s comments were totally out of line. We all went through Hurricane Katrina together, and we all deserve to be welcomed back to the city equally,” stated Mr. Federico.
In just two days, http://www.ImNotChocolate.com has entertained over 75,000 unique users many of whom visited to purchase the “Willy Nagin and The Chocolate Factory” t-shirts that were created by Federico and a graphic artist he worked with. To date, they have sold several thousand shirts.
The site and the shirts have also garnered significant national attention and have been mentioned on CNN.com and featured on the Walton & Johnson radio show and website. “This thing has really blown up for us. We just came up with a provocative t-shirt design and word of mouth did the rest,” noted Federico. Adding, “now that Mayor Nagin has apologized for his comments, I hope he is not upset with us. We were just trying to make a point with a little bit of levity and humor.”
