Asset Control, a local consulting firm, is using Web-based technology to advance the auditing and survey processes for small and large companies alike. Our “Build Your Own” survey and audit programs have relevance for both the public and private sectors, says Russ Rosenberg, the company's president.

These programs, initially developed for the State of Texas for use in public school districts, enables the client to build custom audit programs and surveys at minimal effort and cost. Since the audits and audit data are housed on Asset Control's Web-based server, there is no need for the client to involve their own IS or Technology department. This critical benefit addresses IS resources that are already stretched thin at most companies; in some cases, a year or more may pass from the time an audit department requests a computer based program to final implementation. Some requests are summarily denied because IS just does not have the time. Asset Control’s program setup takes about 20 minutes, after which clients can immediately build and house climate surveys and HR audits.

"We quickly realized that the process we developed for state and local governments had relevancy in the private sector as well," said Rosenberg. "We made some modifications and came up with a terrific tool that will enhance any company's ability to audit and report."

The program was developed with simplicity in mind and can be operated by non-technical employees. In fact, any department that uses an audit program, such as Human Resources, Loss Prevention, Internal Audit, Operations, etc., can house their existing audits and surveys in the system or build them from scratch. The system allows for scoring of individual audit points with whole or partial credit. A robust report generator facilitates audit reports and reporting.

"Both the audit and survey generators are available now," says Rosenberg. "We are particularly excited about the survey because of its application in the Human Resource arena."
