Leg warmers are mounting a comeback. Not with the big hair and off-the-shoulder fashions from the 80's, but in dance clubs across England and the U.S. At Paul William Knitting, they've rolled out their new line of leg warmers, at http://www.hotsox7.com. They are being worn with casual street wear over pants. They're being worn with mini skirts, both over tights or on bare legs. And leg warmers are often seen with matching arm warmers and scarves.
Paul Lust, of Paul William Knitting, says, "Leg warmers were originally something that professional dancers wore in their warm-up routines. In the 80's, they became part of the mainstream fashion scene. Now, leg warmers are making a second comeback. These new leg fashions from London are prevalent at the raves and in the club scene both in England and in the United States."
The new leg warmers are much improved from the '80's, where they were constantly falling down. The new fabrications have additional Lycra sewn into the top and bottom of the piece, so they stay in place.
"This new fabrication retains the size of the garment through a new technique called heat activation," Lust says. "Simply, this process enables the size of the leg warmer to be retained. Just tumble in the dryer for 5 minutes to restore the original form and look of the legwarmer. "
