(PRWEB) January 26, 2006 -- Thinplace (www.thinplace.com) Gallery with a U.K. partner is now offering the limited edition prints of Dinah Roe Kendall. “We are very excited to be offering these wonderful prints.” Says David Buechner, President of Thinplace. “As soon as I saw them I loved them. They invite me into a dialogue with important biblical texts. Dinah uses costume, scene and context to bring the allegories into our mind’s hearts and lives” says Buechner.
About the artist: Dinah was born in Bakewell in 1923 into a family of professional artists. Her Grandfather and Great Grandfather were both well-known Artists. Her Great Grandmother was the daughter of the Victorian Sculptor, whose image of Lord Nelson is seen in Trafalgar Square, London. Her Father planned for her to proceed to full-time training, but the War and his early death occurred before these arrangements could be realized. After her wartime Nursing, she attended Sheffield Art School and was able to gain an Ex-service Grant as a fulltime student and was given a place at the Slade School of Fine Art. After three years she married, had five children in five years and spent some years in seclusion with little artwork achieved. However in 1969 she returned to do further study at the Slade School, but in 1973 she lost her third son, which caused major trauma for family and work for some years. She now has two studios in her home, where she is constantly at work. Her personal faith in Jesus Christ and her reading of the bible has been a persistent stimulation, which has directed her to visualize many of the stories in contemporary form.

Description of Allegories of Heaven: An Artist Explores the Greatest Story Ever Told: Christians throughout the centuries have portrayed the life of Christ through painting, sculpture and art. In so doing the church has expressed the incarnation in ways engaging both the eye and the imagination. Now contemporary artist Dinah Roe Kendall offers a vibrant retelling of the full scope of Jesus' ministry. Walking through the Gospel narratives from annunciation to ascension, Kendall brings to life well-known events and parables with unexpected visual force. We encounter familiar figures such as John the Baptist and the good Samaritan as we have never seen them before. Accompanied by Eugene Peterson's The Message translation of the Gospel stories, Kendall's artwork leads us into a fresh experience of Jesus' story. This volume helps us envision anew.
"This is what the kingdom of heaven is like . . ." "On one hand Dinah's down-to-earth style of illustration brings the gospel story close to us today. At the same time her dramatic staging and decorative motifs give us fresh views of the greatest story ever told." Timothy R. Botts, artist and calligrapher for Doorposts and Messiah
