The Triple Helix Discovers Future Leaders: 400 Percent Increase in Readership in 6 Months

The first and only national undergraduate journal, The Triplex Helix: The National Journal of Science, Society, and Law has record success since its launch at Cornell University in October of 2004.

Ithaca, NY (PRWEB) January 22, 2006 - The first and only national undergraduate journal, The Triplex Helix: The National Journal of Science, Society, and Law has record success since its launch at Cornell University in October of 2004. As a non-profit organization that is both run and written by students, a 400 percent increase in online and print readership in the past 6 months is a record. Access to the journal online has given young people, who are intelligent and global-minded a chance to discuss issues on a local, national and international level.

The focus of The Triple Helix is to take current events and issues and examine how they intersect with science, society and law. Article topics have included: “The Battle Over Surrogacy,” “National Institute of Health to Fund National Stem Cell Bank,” and “Self-Administered Hiv Tests Debated by the Food and Drug Administration.” Articles are contributed by staff writers from The Triple Helix chapters nation wide. Each chapter has a section unique to its university in addition to a common national features section.

Since it’s founding at Cornell University in October of 2004, The Triple Helix has expanded to 10 other prestigious universities including the University of California-Berkeley, University of Pennsylvania, Mass. Institue of Technology, Yale, Johns Hopkins, Brown, Columbia, Dartmouth, and Carnegie Mellon. Chapters under construction include Harvard, Duke, Princeton, University of California Los Angeles, University of Chicago, and Arizona State University. The Triple Helix is also in the process of expanding internationally to China, India, England, and Canada.

The Triple Helix is published bi-annually as a not-for-profit journal written by undergraduate students. The Spring edition of the journal will be printed this March.
