Poker Player Uses Casino Winnings to Create Poker Website

A 27 year old poker player creates and runs a successful poker site from his living room after having a lucky streak in casino.

Dylan Jones, 27, hopes to turn his £600 casino winnings into a successful online venture. The money which was won in a casino -- ironically on roulette and not on the poker tables -- gave Dylan the opportunity to buy a personal computer, and create a website about his passion -- poker.

He has been working on his poker site http://www.learningpoker.co.uk for nearly six months, and after a brand new re-launch, complete with face-lift, the site has hit the poker scene with a bang. Dylan’s main aim is to provide a service for the poker community, and hopes to introduce many new players to the game.

“When I started playing Poker, I wasn’t sure which online site was the best for me.” says Dylan, 27. “There are so many sites out there, which makes it difficult for new players to decide on a site that suits them best. So through trial and error, I’m trying to gauge what poker players need and point them in the right direction.”

He believes the most important aspect of his site is the forum, where Dylan hopes people from all parts of the world will come to discuss their tactics, ideas and organise games, both on and offline.

“It’s a great opportunity for new and existing players to come together and really discuss in depth their thoughts on the game. I’m personally interested in the mathematical side of the game and the forum is a great way to discuss the subject with likeminded players.”

Having a forum is not enough these days, as Dylan is fully aware. Content needs to be updated regularly, and search engines frown upon link heavy websites. That is why learningpoker.co.uk has RSS feeds from several large online poker sites, with constantly updated content, as well as daily additions to his own original content.

The site has slowly grown by word of mouth and a couple of well chosen advertising campaigns and is a hit with poker players. Alexa’s ranking system indicates that the site’s overall ranking has improved by 1,722,810 places in the ranking table, with page views by surfers up by 100% over the last 3 months, and the site’s reach per million visitors has improved by a staggering 625%.
