Olympics Guide Book Author Carries the Torch
James Sajo, who wrote the award-winning “Torino 2006: A Local’s Guide to the Winter Olympics,” (Wing Span Press) has another Olympic feather in his cap. He carried the Olympic Torch.
Livermore, CA (PRWEB) January 23, 2006 -- This afternoon, the American author participated in the Olympic Torch Relay, toting the flame 500 meters in Sacile, Italy, near his home. Ten thousand runners are carrying the Olympic Flame from Rome to Turin in an 8-week relay.
“I don’t know if my book had anything to do with being selected to carry the Torch,” said a beaming Sajo, “but it is really great to be part of something like this. I’m very happy.”
He is also happy with the attention his book has won. Named a finalist in the USA Book News “Best Books” competition, earning high praise from the US Curling team, and amassing a unanimous 5-star reader review on Amazon.com.
“Torino 2006 A Local’s Guide to the Winter Olympics,” combines valuable information about a little known Italian destination with details of one of the world’s largest sporting events.
The book offers descriptions of important tourist sites, dining suggestions, a regional wine guide and more. It also provides a schedule of competition and description of each sports venue in Turin and outlying mountain villages.
Sajo is a freelance journalist who has lived in Italy for 13 years. His experience writing about Italian travel, sports, cuisine and culture provided the tools for a comprehensive book that will help visitors enrich their Olympic experience.
The book sells for $10 or 8 Euro and is available at www.overlookedbooks.com, or amazon.com. It is also in selected bookstores in Turin.
