Fierson's Wins 'Best of Weschester' Vote

Fierson’s, Bronxville’s most well-known and highly regarded children’s clothing store, has been cited by Westchester Magazine as having the best baby clothes in Westchester County.

Bronxville, NY (PRWEB) January 23, 2006 -- Fierson’s, Bronxville’s most well-known and highly regarded children’s clothing store, has been cited by Westchester Magazine as having the best baby clothes in Westchester County.

Featured in the “Best of Westchester” issue, Fierson’s was singled out as the best independent baby clothing store in Westchester County. This accolade stands out amongst many that owner Adrian East has received since buying the store a little more than two years ago.

“I am especially proud of this recognition”, East says, “because it validates all of the effort we’ve put into turning the store around in such a short time. Last year I was really pleased when I found out that my store was one of only 40 specialty stores in the country to be approved to carry Burberry for babies, but this even tops that honor! I’m just really thrilled that others are noticing the changes and are as happy about them as we are!”

Under East’s stewardship, the store has been completely revamped, both in terms of the physical location itself as well as the quality and selection of merchandise the store now carries.

“First and foremost, I wanted to improve the quality of the merchandise carried. I felt that much of the customer base had been lost to Greenwich and Madison Avenue, so I opted to carry more of the upscale lines the customers were looking for. Once people knew we were carrying Papo D’Anjo, Marie Chantal, Lili Gauffrette, Pappa and Ciccia and other famous European labels, word got around and we were able to ultimately get that customer back.”

She seems intent on doing that without losing the customer of more modest means. East adds, “It’s important to maintain a fairly robust selection of more moderate clothing, so I am careful to retain lines like KC Parker, Hartstrings, Lily Pulitzer and Polo.”

A visit to the store proves her point; while it’s fun to admire the expensive, but oh-so-luxurious cashmere take-me-home outfits by Baby CZ, you can actually buy an equally attractive, though not quite as luxe, 3-piece ensemble for $28.00.

A much needed redesign of the store’s dated interior was next on the list as East sought to create an environment better suited to her new lines. The dated 1960’s-blue décor was soon replaced with a bright and airy look. A new floor, whitewashed furniture and glass front cabinets chock full of inventory make it a warm and welcoming environment.

East attributes the store’s success to other things as well; in addition to bringing in many beautiful lines, she has added entirely new departments such as Maternity and Shoes, and greatly expanded others including Christening, Communion and the baby gift selection which now offers enough variety to fit anyone’s needs.

The store has recently begun stocking items with Fierson’s own private label and Kissy Kissy, a manufacturer well-known for its soft Peruvian cotton, has produced a line exclusively for Fierson’s that is selling well.

This spring East will be expanding even further by adding a broader selection of shoes in larger sizes and will begin carrying toys. “Many of my customers have been lamenting the fact that the “Try and Buy” store next door closed its doors. In an effort to keep them minimally supplied in birthday gifts, I will be adding a limited selection of nicer quality toys.” Though a little wary of getting in to the “toy” business, East says, “I try, whenever possible, to respond to my customer’s needs.”

That, in a nutshell, may just explain why Fierson’s made the “Best of Westchester” list.
