Rapid Weather Expands Hurricane and Tropical Storm Coverage for the Public
The Rapid City, South Dakota company is making hurricane forecasts available to the general public as well as businesses. The forecasts are available on the Web, by email and through live weather briefings.
Rapid City, SD (PRWEB) January 26, 2006 -- This year may be another record-breaking year for hurricanes and Rapid Weather is working to bring as much weather information to the public as possible.
Rapid Weather, through its Web site www.rapidwx.com will be making tropical storm and hurricane forecasts available to all subscribers, whether they are individuals or businesses. These forecasts are typically distributed by email and posted on a Web page, but this year Rapid Weather will offer live weather briefings to customers.
"The use of Web conferencing technology will make it possible to bring weather information to everyone in a live, interactive format," say's Rapid Weather owner, Chris Orr. "People will be able to listen to a meteorologists explain what may or may not happen, view our forecasts and be able to ask questions in real-time."
According to Orr, this technology is not being used for hurricane forecasts. "We do not know of any other service like it," says Orr. "If someone wants to know what the National Hurricane Center is forecasting and what our team of forecasters is predicting, the information will be available at one place on the Internet."
Rapid Weather's meteorologist have experience forecasting hundreds of hurricanes and typhoons. "There is a lot of information available about these storms but the it does not seem to reach the public and businesses in a significant and timely way. Now, when someone wants to know how a hurricane will affect them, they can find out directly from a forecaster in a live meeting on the Web."
Rapid Weather will be using Microsoft's Live Meeting technology for the presentations.
