Tacoma (WA) Man Discovers Rare Historical Hoard of Nazi (English Language) Propaganda

A Tacoma Washington man has recently discovered a rare complete original set of “Facts in Review.” This newsletter was published in English by George Sylvester Viereck from the German Library of Information, located in New York City, and was mailed free of charge to wealthy Americans, congressman and senators, and other prominent individuals.

(PRWEB) January 27, 2006 -- A local collector, a resident of Tacoma, Washington, recently unearthed a complete original set of a Third Reich funded publication titled “Facts in Review.” This early Word War II weekly newsletter was published in English, was purely propaganda, and was funded directly by the Third Reich, namely Joseph Paul Goebbels, Hitler’s minister of information and propaganda.

George Sylvester Viereck, a registered agent for Germany, a poet, intellectual, journalist, and Nazi front man, was the editor of this English Language newsletter.

Publication of this weekly newsletter commenced in mid 1939 and was shut down by the US government in June of 1941. It was published by the ‘German Library of Information’ then located at 17 Battery Place, New York, NY.

In the short 24 months of publication, “Facts in Review” had grown from an original two page 8 ½ x 11 format to sixteen plus pages. Printed on medium grade bond paper, all of the copies are in near mint shape. All of the printing was done by union labor, and is stamped with the union bug and ‘Printed in USA’, on the back. Controversial and dramatic from the first issue on, the propaganda newsletters are filled with photos of German children, churches, and family life, positive stories on Germany’s war aggression, and justification and praise for the German Third Reich.

“Facts in Review” had a mailing list of 200,000 and was sent free of charge to wealthy American families, congressman and senators, and other prominent individuals.

This rare find offers an historical glimpse into a troubled past.
