Free Rub But No Tug
Massage Exchange website preaches "It's not about sex!"
(PRWEB) January 28, 2006 -- With a name like freerub.com you could be forgiven for thinking that this web site has a distinct sexual theme, possibly with a massage overtone to it. No doubt some visitors try to make it just that - a kind of free love, alternative, swinging sexual massage fest. However on careful review of the site you can see that this is not the case!
Freerub.com is a massage exchange site that has a zero tolerance policy when it comes to exchanging anything other than the kinds of massage that can be found in most professional massage therapy clinics.
The idea behind the site is very similar to a dating site. It looks and works just like one, but with a completely different purpose. The massage enthusiasts using the site aren’t looking for a date or life partner, just other local massage enthusiasts to pick up tips from and trade massage with.
The site isn’t just for those who have expert training; most members seem to have very little or no training at all. Most though, have at least been to a professional massage therapist a few times and watched a massage instruction video or two.
“Going to a professional massage therapists, whilst not teaching you a lot, is going to give you a good idea of what any potential massage partners are going to expect.” says the site’s owner Trevor Harbor. “Not everyone can afford the fees for professional massage and not everyone needs the level of expertise these professionals offer. The vast majority of massage is for simply relaxation only. Whilst causing injury to your partner may be possible if your not trained I have never heard of such cases even after 1000’s of massages have been exchanged via this site”
The site claims to enforce a strict no tolerance policy regards misusing its services to offer or solicit any kind of sexual service as it has “report abuse” tools around the site for members to report such things. Harbor claims to act on such reports aggressively with over 90% of reports resulting in members being blocked from the site. However, with only 40 such reports being made in the last 6 months and over 45,000 members, it makes you wonder just what percentage of incidents are being reported?
