Survey Shows The Alivio IF4 Provides Pain Relief for 90 Percent of Post-Operative Patients

Doctors Increasingly Turn to Interferential Current Therapy as a Non-Surgical, Non-Pharmacological Alternative to Pain Relief -- About 90 percent of post-operative knee and shoulder patients reported “good” or “excellent” pain relief results after using the Alivio IF4 interferential stimulator that was prescribed for home use by their orthopedic surgeons, according to a recent survey by Alivio Corporation, the trusted industry-leader in home electrotherapy products and services.

Interlochen, MI (PRWEB) January 27, 2006 -- About 90 percent of post-operative knee and shoulder patients reported “good” or “excellent” pain relief results after using the Alivio IF4 interferential stimulator that was prescribed for home use by their orthopedic surgeons, according to a recent survey by Alivio Corporation, the trusted industry-leader in home electrotherapy products and services.

The survey of 200 patients was conducted from June to November 2005. Excellent results were defined as a “significant decrease in pain after treatment, decreased swelling, increased range of motion (ROM), sustained relief of at least one hour, and decreased use of pain medication.” Good results were defined as “decreased pain after treatment, decreased swelling, increased flexibility, and some sustained relief after treatment.”

Electrotherapy, or electrical-stimulation (E-stim), has been used by physicians and physical therapists in the clinic for over 40 years. Interferential Current Therapy (IFC) is based on the crossing of two different medium-frequency sine waves, delivering a continuous, high-energy output that provides deep tissue electrical stimulation directly into the affected area, without any discomfort. Unlike the commonly used TENS machines—which only “mask” pain—the IFC actually promotes healing.

The Alivio IF4 stimulator, a portable, home-use unit, made in the USA from the highest-quality materials, successfully treats back, neck, shoulder and knee injuries or problems, fibromyalgia, joint injuries, overuse injuries and surgical procedures, muscle spasms, edema, inflammation, carpal tunnel syndrome, tennis elbow, and sports injuries.

The survey’s results support a recent peer-reviewed, double blind study exclusively conducted on the Alivio IF4 stimulator (then called Stimtech) by the preeminent Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic in Los Angeles. Published in the Clinical Journal of Sport Medicine, “The Effects of Home Interferential Therapy on Post-Operative Pain, Edema, and Range of Motion of the Knee” concluded that “Home IFC may help reduce pain, pain medication taken, and swelling while increasing range of motion in patients undergoing knee surgery. This could result in quicker return to activities of daily living and athletic activities.”

“We’ve seen fantastic results like this for over a decade,” says Paul E. Kasper, President of Alivio Corporation. “The portable Alivio IF4 has been proven effective time and again. Interferential current therapy is a non-invasive, non-pharmacological, cost-effective way to manage pain and promote healing. It’s changing the way doctors—and most importantly, patients—view and decide on the most effective treatment options for pain.”

In addition to providing electrotherapy devices and supplies, Alivio Corporation offers total physician and patient services that take care of all administrative, billing, tracking, and compliance tasks—leaving physicians and patients to concentrate on total recovery.
