Time Travel is Possible: First-Time Author Takes Readers into the Past

Christian fiction writer provides readers with a Regency romance novel that is fun and clean.

Austin, TX (PRWEB) February 1, 2006 -- Linore Rose Burkard is transporting readers, who, curled up with a cup of tea and a book in hand, find themselves in 1813 Regency England...and loving it! In “Before the Season Ends,” (Xulon Press, May 2005, ISBN: 1-59467-673-9) readers get an exciting trip into the Regency while enjoying the twists and turns of a period romance that is fun, addictive and, importantly, as far as romance goes -- clean.

Burkard's book stretches the Regency genre, bringing it into the arena of Christian fiction. Being the first book to do so, perhaps that’s why her readers are so enchanted with the time period -- it's new to them. Except for those familiar with Jane Austen, the Regency is something they haven't heard much about until now. “Before the Season Ends” is an introduction guaranteed to bring new fans to the time period, as it has certainly captured new fans for this author.

“The Regency,” claims Burkard, “is enormous fun; the hypocrisy of the social order and its values is just a springboard for all kinds of settings and situations.” According to readers, many of whom have read the book several times, they laugh out loud at times and other times they cry. Kelli Glesige, a reviewer with Reader Views, found the book not only entertaining but educational as well.

Glesige wrote, “Burkard [is] successful at giving the reader a real and complete mental picture of the time period. She describes the beautiful and ornate clothing, the sparkling jewelry, fancy hairdos, exquisite homes, unique men’s clothing, and modes of transportation... So complete and inviting were the descriptions that I could ‘see’ the story as it unfolded, and imagine being right there in England with Ariana [the heroine].”

Writing with a Christian world view, Burkard sends a 19 year old Miss Ariana Forsythe to her aunt’s town home in fashionable Mayfair -- the center of high society which she is unaccustomed to -- after experiencing trouble at home. Scandals occur causing her future to be at stake in a high profile adventure while Ariana’s life is changed forever. Yet neither Ariana -- or the reader -- knows how it will turn out until the very end.

Linore Rose Burkard lives with her husband, five children, and ninety-one-year-old grandmother in Waynesville, Ohio. Raised in New York, she graduated magna cum laude from the City University of New York (Queens College) with a Bachelor of Arts in English literature. The second installment of the projected five-book series is due out in late spring.
