Putting Their Pens Together: A Kansas City Writers' Cooperative Forms

Four area writers with a variety of backgrounds recently joined together to create a new cooperative to market their writing services collectively.

Four area writers with a variety of backgrounds recently joined together to create a new cooperative called The Lieurance Group. The cooperative will create synergy for the writers by providing a way to market their services collectively.
   
"We will help each other find freelance opportunities," says Suzanne Lieurance, founder of the cooperative. "We’ll also work together on projects and meet regularly to brainstorm ideas. If one member gets an opportunity she needs help with, we can all pitch in to get the job finished."
   
The skill set of the group includes experience writing articles in mainstream publications, corporate communications, newspapers, medical and health publications, educational resources, testing materials, and a variety of works for children. The cooperative is the first of its kind in the Kansas City area. Membership in the group is by invitation only.
