Tucson Woman Business Owner of the Year Awards is just a little over a week away, and “preparation for the big event has reached a fever pitch”, says Priscilla Altuna, chair of the awards selection committee. “The Arizona Inn stands ready to handle the flurry of activity as the final preparations continue”, says Altuna.

Brad Welch, President of Gila Signs adds “We have been working on signs to direct traffic, as well as show appreciation to all of this year’s sponsors.” Gila Signs, who has been providing signage in Tucson for over 20 years, is a sponsor for this year’s award. “It is just as exciting today as it was the first time we sponsored this type of event. We are really excited about the new look that Gila is providing for this year’s event signage”, says Welch.

Vicki Saxon, President of BadgeMan is in charge of this year’s award design and her company has donated the awards. “We have worked hard with the committee to create an elegant and striking design that the winners will be proud of for years to come.” We want the award to reflect the remarkable women who represent and embody the spirit of this award”, says Saxon.

The Greater Tucson Chapter of NAWBO (National Association of Woman Business Owners), who is the host of the awards, has coordinated efforts among many businesses to honor this year’s participants. Over the last few weeks, each nominee was treated to a makeover from professional make-up artist Liz Licovilli and professional headshots from Rembrandt Photography. The digital headshots will be presented to the nominees at the award ceremony along with other prizes from this year’s sponsors. PRWeb has provided free press release services for the event, sponsors and nominees through their partner Engraft.Net.

Steve Ochoa, best known by Tucsonans as the host of KOLD’s Business File, is donating sales and memory training to the nominees. Sparking Memories is providing custom greeting cards for the Owner of the Year as well as a gift for each nominee. Other companies, who sponsored this year’s event, include Cox Cable who taped a public service announcement with the Mayor of Tucson, Bob Walkup and Jan Aalberts, NAWBO’s president; as well as Engraft.Net who designed and hosted the website used for voting.

Winners will be announced on Wednesday, February 8th in the following categories; Mentor Award, Home-based Business Award, E-Business Award, Brick and Mortar Award, and Tucson Woman Business Owner of the Year.
