Greater New York Chapter of IFMA Hosts Their 2006 Awards Banquet Dinner Honoring Jay Cross

IFMAGNY is the largest and most widely recognized professional association for facility management.

Brian Ostrowe, President of the Greater New York Chapter of the International Facility Management Association, hosted the 2006 Annual Awards Banquet on January 24th at the Grand Hyatt Hotel. IFMAGNY is the largest and most widely recognized professional association for facility management. The Greater New York Chapter achieved the 2005 Chapter of the Year, Large Chapter for their outstanding contributions to the Facility Management Profession and the development of IFMA.

Jay Cross, President of the New York Jets, was honored by his peers for his commitment to making the Jets organization a “fan friendly”, world class franchise. Cross has spearheaded the efforts in opening two Jets’ Academies in the New are, PS306 in Brooklyn and East Village Community School in New York City. In addition, Jay has launched the Oasis tents at the Jets home games giving fans a point of destination to interact with former players, obtain Jets’ merchandise and enjoy the pre-game atmosphere. “Jay recognized the importance of reaching out to Jets’ alumni and including them in charitable and community events. This is a gesture that both players, and fans, have greatly appreciated,” says Brian Ostrowe, IFMAGNY President.

The Greater New York Chapter of IFMA recognized ten of its members with distinguished awards. They included the following:

Marty Sillen, Zenith Optimedia - Distinguished Professional Member

Gerald McGowan, American Lawyer Media Inc – Distinguished Facility Manager of the Year

Shashi Caan, Parsons School of Interior Design/Shashi Caan Collective –

Distinguished Educator of the Year

New York City Department of Environmental Protection –

Distinguished Environmental Corporation of the Year

Frank Lazzaro, NBC Universal - Anthony J Cornacchia Distinguished Service Award
