Call for Entries - 168 Hour Film Competition
168 Film Competition - Filmmakers have 168 hours to make a short film.
Burbank, CA (PRWEB) February 2, 2006 -- Call for entries for the 4th annual 168 Hour Film Project (168), a competition where all films are created simultaneously during one week or 168 hours. Up to 60 teams will produce a 10-minute short film based on a Bible verse. The contest is judged by top Hollywood executives.
Challenging the beginner, the professional, and up and coming filmmakers, production begins February 22nd with all teams completing their projects by March 1st, 2006. Deadline for registration is February 10th. Films can be submitted from anywhere. Teams that register before January 18th will receive discounted entry fees and a Producer’s Package, which includes discounted equipment rentals, seminars, tickets, and gifts from sponsors.
Filmmakers compete for awards at the film festival, to be held in Los Angeles in March, and the chance to be featured on the new television series, “Project 168.”
Industry professionals participating in 168 include: Ralph Winter, Producer of the X-MEN Films, Fantastic Four, Planet of the Apes; Gary Hall, VP of Post Production at 20th Century Fox TV; David McFadzean, Co-creator of Home Improvement; and Luke Schelhaas, Writer and Co-Producer on the TV series, Smallville.
“I love the passion and the creativity of these films,” says Ralph Winter. “I encourage filmmakers to get involved and to not miss the chance to be a part of this."
John Ware is the Founder and Executive Director of 168. “We’re excited about the opportunity to give a national spotlight to our filmmakers and show the public how good spiritual entertainment can be,” says Ware. “People need to know that there are many in Hollywood who are committed to making a difference.”
The goal is to provide an entrée into the film industry. The 168 encourages aspiring filmmakers with an exhibition seen by over a thousand, professional training from industry leaders, team building meetings, and casting sessions. Winners from previous year's competition have gone on to win numerous awards and gain notoriety from their films produced for the competition.
“Last year was extremely successful with over 750 cast and crew members producing 57 films,” says Ware. “168 not only challenges the most talented and creative, it also equips the beginner to learn, grow and build relationships in the film industry. With the planned expansion into television and the interactive internet space, 168 will be established as a content pipeline to the broadcast community.”
“Our goal is to prepare our filmmakers to succeed and to surpass their own expectations,” says Festival Director, Mike Wech. “We want everyone involved to reach their potential and beyond.”
The entrance fee for the competition is only $399.00. Save $45.00 by registering by January 18th. Early registration is only $350.00 per team and includes: 2 workshop tickets, 10 tickets to team screening, a Producer’s Manual plus access to all mixers and teambuilding events (a total value of $700.00)
