Number's Up For Bernie The Bingo Bore
ThinkBingo.com, The UK’s biggest online bingo community will replace their caller with Alan Stockdale, one of the country's most recognised bingo callers.
(PRWEB) February 2, 2006 -- The number’s up for Bernie, the current bingo caller at ThinkBingo.com, Britain’s leading online bingo site.
For after two highly-successful years, players at Think Bingo have voted him out as their regular caller…for being too “boring.”
And now his place will be taken by ex Gala Bingo hall legend Alan Stockdale, a former winner of the National Bingo Game Association Caller of the Year award and twice Regional Winner.
In a poll, hundreds of Think Bingo members voted by 68 per cent to 32 per cent to give Bernie the bullet.
It marks the end of an era.
Since ThinkBingo.com opened the first of its five online bingo halls in August 2004, Bernie’s recorded voice has been heard calling the numbers.
He has overseen more than £16m in prize money being handed out among 50,000 Think Bingo players -- who gave the caller his affectionate nickname.
But gradually Bernie’s popularity waned.
Explained one Thinker, Tracey Stafford from Manchester: “Bernie was our prince at first and we even named one of our Halls, ‘Bernie’s Girls’, after him.
“But recently some of the girls started to mutter that he wasn’t exciting enough. We’ve had great fun with Bernie, but it’s time we now had the best.”
ThinkBingo.com is holding a leaving party for Bernie on Friday 3rd February, with special prizes given away throughout the evening.
From Saturday, the voice of Alan, arguably Britain's most famous bingo caller, will be heard calling the numbers.
Said Alan: “I’m anxious because it’s a demanding position and Bernie is one heck of an act to follow.
“But I’m confident I can pick up where Bernie left off and not disappoint the Think Bingo ladies.”
And Dylan Schlosberg, spokesperson for Think Bingo said: “We’re delighted to have Alan as our new caller. He’s a legend in the land bingo world and a real feather in our cap.
“ThinkBingo.com is all about player loyalty and entertainment and Alan will be a huge hit.
“But lets not forget Bernie played a key role in establishing Think Bingo at the forefront of UK online bingo. We’ll always be grateful to him – whoever he is.”
