KBC Process Technology Ltd. (KBC) announces the recent agreement to license Petro-SIM®, KBC’s refinery-wide process simulation software to COSMO Oil Company Ltd of Japan.

COSMO plans to use Petro-SIM FCC, and associated models for use at the head office and its four refineries to monitor and optimize operations and generate LP data. Comprehensive models of all four refineries including crude and vacuum distillation, reforming, hydrotreating, fluid catalytic cracking and residue hydrodesulphurisation units are being built.

The sale of this industry leading software is made as part of the technology transfer included within the comprehensive Profit Improvement Partnership (PIP) that KBC has successfully run with Cosmo Oil Company Ltd at these sites.

Petro-SIM allows process engineers to model all of their refinery assets allowing them to optimize, analyze and evaluate complex refinery interactions. Petro-SIM can be used to determine the impact of different feedstocks and operating targets, monitor process performance, conduct investment studies, or update a Linear Program (LP) model. KBC’s Profimatics® distillation, catalytic cracking, reforming, visbreaking, alkylation, hydrotreating, hydrocracking, and delayed coking models, as well as KBC’s proprietary furnace model and product blending technology form the comprehensive, refinery-wide package of Petro-SIM.
