Weekend Seminar to Strengthen Marriages Announced for Tulsa County, Oklahoma

Marriages struggle to keep ahead of the divorce rate in Tulsa County, Oklahoma. In one year, marriage license issued outpaced divorce decrees by less than 600. University Professor Kenneth Mayton presents Life Communication Weekend a free seminar February 10-12 in Tulsa. Healthy marriages are possible.

Tulsa, Oklahoma (PRWEB) February 4, 2006 -- Tulsa County Marriages struggle to keep ahead of divorce decrees according to a survey by Oklahoma State Department of Health, as reported by the Oklahoma State Courts Network. In 2004 marriage license applications outnumbered divorce decrees issued by only 538. What can be done? A University Professor shares his research in a free seminar February 10-12 in Tulsa.

“Many people think relationships come naturally,” says Dr. Kenneth Mayton. “The truth is they are developed over time and with a great deal of effort.” Dr. Mayton, an Oral Roberts University Professor stresses the importance of communication as an essential key to a healthy marriage and relationship.

Mayton will present Life Communication Weekend, February 10-12 in Tulsa at Calvary Temple, 4701 S. Edison in Tulsa. Session One of Life Communication Weekend begins 7pm Friday February 10. The seminar will address how and why marriages fail and what can be done. Saturday will feature a seminar and banquet for couples at 6pm. Life Communications Weekend continues with a presentation on Sunday February 12 at 10:30am. There is no charge for the weekend seminars. Banquet tickets are $5 and reservations should be received by February 8 by calling 587.9431.

“My goal is to strengthen marriages and relationship and provide hope for age ranges,” says Mayton. Mayton will be joined by his wife Judith, Assistant Professor of Behavioral Science at Oral Roberts University. According to the Maytons, this seminar will help those who are seeking help to renew and restore their marriage. Healthy marriages are not an accident; they are the result of time and effort. Together the Maytons share their years of research with attendees at Life Communications Weekend.

Dr. Mayton is the Associate Dean for Doctoral Studies and Professor of Practical Theology at Oral Roberts University in Tulsa. He has served as Pastor of churches in California, Georgia, and Tennessee.
The weekend seminar will help most marriage relationships; however it is not intended to replace professional marriage counseling.

Pastor Tim Watkins is Senior Pastor of Calvary Temple in Tulsa. The congregation is known as a place of new beginnings. Through the years the church has helped hundreds of people with a variety of life challenges through their special classes Fridays at 7pm. Calvary Temple is located in West Tulsa at 4701 S. Edison.
