Oregon Trail Pioneer Series Captures Essence of Bygone Era

Authors combine faith, family, and page-turning action in adventure tale.

LONGWOOD, FL (PRWEB) February 5, 2006 —- Years of experience taken through the “gauntlet of human emotion” equipped authors John and Patty Probst to craft a pioneer story that hooks readers on the very first page. In The Last of the Wagon Pioneers ($17.99, paperback, 1597816388; hardcover, $27.99, 1597816396), the first in the seven-book Strangers and Pilgrims series, Farmer Trevor knows he was born to be more than a simple farmer. He dreams to discover life in a new land during a time of change and growth. Taking his two small children and his wife Emile across dangerous terrain, Farmer embarks on a journey beyond his wildest imagination. He carries a worn piece of paper promising a new life and a claim to Section 9 of an Oregon homestead. As the last of the Wagon Pioneers, the Trevor family must rely on their faith in God, the love of a family, and a horse-drawn chuck wagon to make the journey.

Spanning four generations, the series is written in the tradition of books by Edna Ferber (Show Boat, Cimarron, So Big). Although each book is suitable as stand-alone reading material, The Last of the Wagon Pioneers lays the foundation for the series by involving the reader in the lives of the Trevor family. Indeed, early readers of the book said the characters quickly become “family” as they encounter adventures along the Trail. Lovers of historical and adventure fiction—as well as anyone wanting a good read—will enjoy The Last of the Wagon Pioneers. In the process, they’ll discover that God is at work even when circumstances seem to hint otherwise.

JOHN AND PATTY PROBST serve as chaplain to professionals in the film, television, radio, and print media. Their ministry takes them into the studio lots, where they hold Bible studies. They hosted a radio program that aired across the country. In addition, they produced and wrote a pilot and six television shows for national cable. John and Patty started researching and writing the Strangers and Pilgrims series in 2000. They currently reside in Southern California.
