St. Cloud, MN (PRWEB) February 6, 2006
Waite Park author, Nathan Allen, plans to donate several books to a local charity to spread the word about cancer. His new book, The Frisson Factor: Land of Ten-Thousand Lakes makes its official debut on March 1st, but pre-released copies will be available for purchase beforehand with the proceeds benefiting the Cody Foundation.
“It is a fantastic charity,” Allen says. “I am honored to be a part of it.”
The Cody Foundation is a non-profit charitable organization established in December 2002. Their goal is to raise awareness of children's cancers and other life threatening diseases. Through charitable events and private donations, they raise money to help in the fight against childhood diseases and to make life a little easier for children struggling with medical illness.
Cody Hulst was born on February 1996 in Saint Cloud, Minnesota and was diagnosed with cancer at the age of four. He had a Wilms Tumor in his kidney that had grown and burst. Radiation and chemotherapy began immediately, but after nine months of intense treatment, doctors concluded that further chemotherapy would not be able to stop the tumors from growing. Sadly, Cody passed away on August 20th, 2002. His parents, Matt and Brenda Hulst, began the Cody Foundation to carry on their son’s dream of helping other children battle illness and to keep the hope alive.
“In addition to donating books, I have also decided to give a portion of my book sales to the foundation as well.” Allen comments. “Through my website, readers can purchase pre-publication versions of my book February 18th through the 19th. Ten percent of the proceeds from each book sale that weekend and will be set aside for the Cody Foundation."
Allen’s book, The Frisson Factor: Land of Ten-Thousand Lakes is a collection of short, fictional stories centered in Minnesota. The book specifically names cities like: Saint Cloud, Duluth, Moorhead, Faribault, Marshall, Rochester, and, of course, the twin cities of Minneapolis and Saint Paul.
“If you liked The Twilight Zone, The Outer Limits, and Night Gallery, then this is the book for you.” Allen says. “It’s a blend of many different genres all taking place in various cities throughout the state. I’ve used real streets, landmarks and events in the book to draw the reader into the stories. I think Minnesotans of all ages and flavors will like this book.”
"The Frisson Factor: Land of Ten-Thousand Lakes" will be available the weekend of February 18th through Allen’s website at http://www.frissonfactor.com. Information on the Cody Foundation can be found at http://www.Codyfoundation.com.
